Dr. Forbes provides psychotherapy utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family systems, and trauma-informed approaches. She works with youth and adults, as well as their family members when appropriate.

Following WPATH standards, Dr. Forbes also conducts assessments for gender confirming medical and surgical interventions. Dr. Forbes supports the informed-consent model for accessing medically necessary gender affirming medical care, but recognizes that assessments and letters are often still required by providers and/or insurance.

Dr. Forbes is available for professional consultations and trainings related to gender affirming care and adolescent mental health.


Dr. Forbes works with insurance as an 'out of network' provider. Dr. Forbes will provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider. They will reimburse you according to your benefit plan.

Catherine earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. She completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship and a two-year APA accredited post-doctoral fellowship in adolescent mental health. She specializes in working with adolescents and young adults from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. In addition, she has developed expertise in gender affirming care, training and working with a world renowned gender clinic for more than 15 years.
